Engagement Lifts Communities
It’s event season! I know because I’ve been attending two to four events a week for the past two months - celebrations, fundraisers and campaign kickoffs. It’s inspiring to see our community come together to support the organizations and people who are the foundation of our community. And, what makes me light up as I walk into these rooms is how many Leadership Eastside alumni and partners are showing up for their community.
If you are looking for a committed group of people, look no further. From supporting youth mentoring, to ensuring our students have all the resources they need to learn, to supporting our neighbors who need housing and basic needs, every event is full of engaged, committed, and generous donors who understand the value of collective impact.
My favorite are the new-to-me events where I have the opportunity to meet new people. I am always impressed that there continue to be very connected community members that I have not yet met. “It takes a village” around here is embraced as “it takes a region.”
Since I’ve seen many of you at these events, I have a request. As you look around the room, take notice of who is showing up time after time and hasn’t had the opportunity to engage with Leadership Eastside? Tell them about our transformative programs and invite them to connect with us, or better yet, nominate them for the CORE Experience program.
Please mark your calendar for Saturday, November 15 for Leadership Eastside’s 20th Anniversary Celebration Gala. We will celebrate YOU and our alumni, partners and volunteers who continue to show up to make positive change for all. Tickets will go on sale in mid-May.
If you’re inspired to support Leadership Eastside now and not wait until November, we are participating in WAGives (formerly GiveBIG) right now where you can donate until May 7.
I can’t wait to see you at an event in May! If you’re looking for ways to engage, see the list in our newsletter: Community Opportunities.
