Stephanie D. Mapelli

May 23, 2006 - Leadership Eastside Board Chair Steven E. Brown, FACHE, CEO Evergreen Healthcare, announced today the organization has selected its first President, Stephanie D. Mapelli.

Mapelli most recently served as Business Development Director North America for City University, Bellevue WA. As an adjunct faculty member at the University, Mapelli taught graduate leadership courses in the US and the People's Republic of China. She previously served as director of giving and alumni affairs, City University.

Leadership Eastside (LE) is the region's next generation community leadership development organization. Founded in 2004, LE graduates its inaugural class of participants at a community celebration on June 8th. Mapelli is among the 38 members of the Class of 2006.

Leadership Eastside has been managed by an active board of directors, curriculum committee and team of consultants. The group developed a distinctive three-year program built around a focus on six core leader capabilities and real issues. The goal is to strengthen connections and be a catalyst for change on the Eastside.

Mapelli brings to Leadership Eastside a thirty-year career spanning successful entrepreneurial ventures and leadership roles in multinational and non-profit organizations. She has extensive experience in the areas of business development, strategic planning, fiscal control, operations management, board and volunteer development, and fundraising. She is a skilled communicator who believes in team empowerment, modeling leadership, and living the mission of the organization.

Mapelli earned her BA (Magna cum Laude) at the University of Montana; MBA (Dean's List) at City University; and Certificate of Fundraising Management at IUPUI School of Philanthropy, Indianapolis, IN.

Mapelli is passionate about community service. "One of my guiding tenets is that the true measure of success lies in the positive difference made in the lives of others," says Mapelli. As a five-time climb team leader and spokesperson for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center's Climb to Fight Breast Cancer, Mapelli has helped to raise over $850,000 since 1999 for cancer research on climbs in the US, Tanzania (Mt. Kilimanjaro), and Russia. She is the current board chair of Providence Mt. St. Vincent Foundation, supporting senior services and families, and board member of the Bellevue Entrepreneur Center.
