leadership eastside class of 2011

Who will ensure our Eastside communities grow to a healthy future?

Why not you?

Leadership Eastside (LE) is recruiting our fourth class of next generation community leaders who want to become catalysts for change. LE’s three-year program strengthens community connections while developing and enriching leaders so that they can become involved in effecting positive change for many important issues facing our Eastside region.

The LE program is designed to help participants look at the needs of the Eastside in a holistic lens. In year one of the three-year program, learning activities are a blend of monthly leader seminars focusing on six core leader capabilities, conversations with business and community leaders, and adoption of regional community projects that address pressing Eastside issues. Years two and three offer participants customized support designed to assist their transformation into community leaders. This is accomplished by providing ongoing community leadership skill building, mentoring opportunities, leadership guidance, and connections with business and community leaders.

The three-year program strengthens community connections while developing and enriching leaders so they can become involved affecting positive change for many important issues facing our Eastside region. Members of LE’s classes of 2008, 2009, and 2010 represent more than fifteen Eastside communities with many serving on non-profit boards and commissions or through public service.

In nominating employees for the LE program, sponsoring organizations support their employee’s personal and professional development. Employees learn a unique set of community leadership skills while gaining access to a network of the region’s most influential business and community leaders.  Participants improve their leadership skills in the workplace by applying LE’s six core leadership capabilities while sponsoring organizations gain a more confident, connected, and knowledgeable employee.

Participants benefit by becoming part of a dynamic, diverse and respected network of community trustees with enhanced confidence and abilities to help shape our vibrant Eastside regions.  They gain increased awareness and understanding of the challenges and opportunities of the Eastside region as they prepare to assume new leadership roles in the community with greater clarity of purpose, energy, and optimism.

Successful applicants will live or work on the Eastside, represent the rich diversity of the Eastside, have proven leadership qualities, and demonstrate the potential to initiate positive change in their communities.

LE is grateful for the support of leaders of a broad base of public, private and not-for-profit organizations committed to healthy Eastside communities.
